Integrated Math 1

Course Overview:

In this Integrated Math 1 online course, students use arithmetic properties of subsets of integers and rational, irrational and real numbers by simplifying expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing equations, finding the equation of a line, working with monomials and polynomials, and factoring and completing the square. Students use properties of the number system to judge the validity of results, justifying each step of the procedure to prove or disprove statements. Students compute perimeter, circumference, area, volume, and surface area of geometric figures. Students also use basic trigonometric functions defined by the angles of a right triangle.

Throughout the course, students will develop their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills, gaining proficiency in a wide range of algebraic concepts. They will learn to analyze patterns, solve equations, interpret data, and apply mathematical principles to real-world scenarios.

Semester 1:

Throughout Semester A, students will delve into major concepts such as algebraic expressions, operations with real numbers, properties of real numbers, basic statistics measures, solving simple and multi-step equations, linear functions and graphs, and solving inequality equations. These topics provide a strong foundation in algebraic problem-solving, equation-solving techniques, and understanding linear functions and their graphical representations.

Semester 2: 

In Semester B, students will further expand their mathematical knowledge with major concepts including exponents and scientific notation, arithmetic and geometric sequences, operations with polynomials, systems of equations, factoring polynomials, quadratic functions and graphs, higher-order polynomials, data analysis and probability, exponential and radical equations, and rational functions and equations. These topics deepen students’ understanding of mathematical operations, equations, and functions, and provide tools to analyze data, solve more complex equations, and explore advanced mathematical concepts.
