Onboarding

Our Education team works with newly enrolled students and their families to create a positive and seamless onboarding experience.

  1. Acceptance and Assessments
After admission into Holston Academy, families submit student transcripts and students complete academic and interest-based assessments. This information will be used by the student’s Academic Coach to develop an Academic Plan based on the previous courses they’ve taken.
  2. Development of the Personalized Learning Plan
Our Education Team reviews the student’s transcripts and assessments and builds a Personalized Learning Plan specific to their academic strengths and opportunities, as well as their interests and future goals. This is reviewed with the student and family before final courses are assigned.
  3. Welcome Emails from Academic Coach and Teachers
After students are assigned to their courses, they will receive a welcome email from their teachers introducing themselves, providing contact information, and office hour availability. Students will work with their Academic Coach and teachers to set up regular check-in meetings throughout the school year.
  4. Gaining Access to Courses
Students will receive login instructions to access their courses in our Learning Management System (LMS). Parents will also receive a login as an observer of the account to monitor student progress in their courses.
  5. Kicking Off the School Year
Students work with their Academic Coach to create a weekly and daily academic schedule. Their teachers are available to support their learning, grade work, and provide feedback, staying in contact with students and parents throughout the school year. Academic Coaches meet with students regularly to review their Personalized Learning Plan and provide mentorship.
