Course Overview:

This Geometry online course builds on the foundation of the first terms in Geometry. As in previous courses, deductive and inductive reasoning are emphasized, while applying problem-solving techniques to real-world problems. Students explore quadrilaterals and circles, and learn how an object is transformed, as well as how to represent that transformation algebraically and geometrically. Students calculate area and volume of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects. 

Geometry is the study of the measurement of the world. What makes Geometry so engaging is the relationship of figures and measures to each other, and how these relationships can predict results in the world around us. Through practical applications, the student sees how geometric reasoning provides insight into everyday life. The course begins with the tools needed in Geometry. From these foundations, the student explores the measure of line segments, angles, and two-dimensional figures. Students will learn about similarity, triangles and trigonometric ratios. 

Throughout the course, students will develop a strong grasp of geometric concepts and problem-solving strategies. They will learn to apply logic and reasoning to solve geometric problems and make connections between different geometric principles. By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of fundamental geometry concepts and their real-world applications.

Semester 1:

In Semester A, students will engage with major concepts in geometry. They will explore geometry tools, learn about logic and proofs, examine angles and lines, study congruence and similarity, delve into triangles, and explore trigonometric ratios. These topics provide a foundation in geometric principles and problem-solving skills.

Semester 2: 

In Semester B, students will further their understanding of geometry by exploring major concepts such as quadrilaterals, transformations, circles, area, volume, and probability. They will examine the properties and characteristics of different shapes, learn about transformations and how they affect geometric figures, study circles and their properties, calculate areas of various shapes, determine volumes of three-dimensional objects, and explore the fundamentals of probability.
