AP® Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism

Course Overview:

In this one-semester college-level AP® Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism online course, students will explore a comprehensive range of topics related to electromagnetism. They will begin by delving into electrostatics, covering electric charges, Coulomb’s Law, electric fields, and electric potential. Moving on to Unit 2, they will study conductors, capacitors, and dielectrics, understanding how these components interact in electrostatic situations. Unit 3 introduces the fundamentals of electric circuits, including concepts of current, resistance, power, and the behavior of DC circuits with batteries, resistors, and capacitors. Unit 4 shifts the focus to magnetostatics, exploring forces on moving charges and current-carrying wires in magnetic fields, along with key laws like Biot-Savart and Ampere’s Law. The course concludes with Unit 5, where students will learn about electromagnetic induction, inductance, and Maxwell’s Equations, providing a comprehensive understanding of electromagnetism and its applications in the physical world.
