American Sign Language (ASL) 2
Course Overview:
In the American Sign Language 2 online course, students will become more familiar with understanding general and detailed information, communicate in ASL on a range of everyday issues, identify everyday topics, carry a conversation accurately, demonstrate the difference in time inflections along with everyday activities, describe the details of different people’s appearances, and discuss different types of weather. The main grammar focus of the course will be understanding how the root system works and learning how to extract the root of a word, and how to use some common time and place adverbs, adjectives, verbs and verb conjugations in ASL.
The central themes of the course are everyday activities, the future, the past, the weather, people, events, among others. The student learning outcomes of this level are to be able to express feelings and attitudes; describe people and preferences; give reasons; talk about work, school, meetings, errands, outdoor activities; be able to help deaf people at stores, restaurants, or airports; and be able to talk about the weather and seasons.
