Holston Academy Launches First AP Seminar® Cohort, Expanding Access to AP Capstone™ for Online Learners Nationwide
September 30, 2025 — Holston Academy is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever AP Seminar® cohort, marking a major milestone in expanding advanced academic opportunities for online high school students across the country. As part of the prestigious AP Capstone™ program, AP Seminar® is now available to students enrolled at any school, offering a unique chance to collaborate weekly in a dynamic, discussion-based online setting.
This inaugural cohort represents a bold step forward in Holston’s mission to deliver challenging, student-centered learning in a flexible format. Students meet virtually each week to explore complex topics, develop research and presentation skills, and engage in meaningful dialogue, all hallmarks of the AP Seminar® experience.
“Launching AP Seminar® as an online offering is a game-changer,” said Cory Plough, Head of School at Holston Academy. “We’re thrilled to welcome our first cohort and proud to be one of the few online schools offering the full AP Capstone™ Diploma pathway.”
The AP Capstone™ Diploma, developed by the College Board, is a two-year program that includes AP Seminar and AP Research. It’s designed to cultivate independent thinking, academic writing, and interdisciplinary inquiry, which are skills essential for college and beyond. Holston Academy’s online format makes this elite program accessible to students nationwide, regardless of their home school affiliation.
Enrollment for next year’s AP Seminar® and AP Research® cohort will open in early spring 2026. Schools interested in partnering with us as well as interested students and families are encouraged to visit https://holstonacademy.org/academics/curriculum/ap-classes-online/ to learn more.
