Middle School Game Design 1B: Creating a Game

Course Overview:

Building upon the foundational skills acquired in Game Design 1A, Middle School Game Design 1B: Creating a Game is an engaging online course designed for students in grades 6–8. This course immerses students in the game development process, guiding them from conceptualization to the creation of a fully functional game prototype.

Students will delve into the three main phases of game development: planning, development, and testing. They will learn to design detailed game elements, including movement controls, levels, and interactive components, while applying programming concepts such as conditional statements and loops. The course emphasizes iterative development, encouraging students to prototype, troubleshoot, and refine their games for optimal user experience.

By the end of the course, students will have developed a playable game, equipped with multiple levels and engaging features, and will have gained valuable insights into the complexities of game development.
