Course Overview:
In this introductory Hebrew 1 online course, students become familiar with basic language skills; to be able to communicate in very basic everyday life situations; including common greetings, daily activities, and telling the date and the time; and to be able to understand very simple oral and written texts and specific information on simple topics. They can provide a short introduction about themselves and tell where they are from and where they live.
The main grammar focus of the course will be learning the alphabet in its different forms, short and long vowels, gender of words, definite and indefinite nouns, personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, some question words, introducing some verbs with different forms, and introducing the singular and plural in Hebrew. The central themes of the course are identity, family, friends, body parts, some food vocabulary, vegetables, and fruits. The student learning outcomes of this level are to be able to tell numbers from 1-10; talk about pets and animals; describe the weather, things and objects in the house; talk about their days and their favorite sports; and express what they feel and why.
