Course Overview:
In this Japanese 2 online course, students will learn to read with hiragana, katakana, and simple kanji continually. Additionally, students will learn how to have a conversation about hobbies and skills, food and restaurants, birthdays, and future goals. Students will also be able to read a short message and a memo. The main grammatical focus of the course is how to describe hobbies and skills, towns and schools, rules, family, and friends; offer assistance; and request permission. Students will be able to use a total of 50 kanji characters for reading and writing.
The central themes of this course are having conversations about daily activities, hobbies and skills, their town and school, food and restaurants, their birthday, desires, future, family, and friends. Students will be exposed to Japanese culture throughout this course so students will be motivated to learn how to communicate in Japanese. The student learning outcomes of this level are to be able to build on familiar grammar patterns and to construct increasingly longer and more complex sentences.
